WANDL, Inc. Unveils Enhanced Version of IP Analysis Tools (IPAT)

Next generation network management tool for Cisco IOS networks.

Bound Brook, New Jersey, January 15, 2003 - WANDL, Inc., developer of scalable network modeling tools, today announced the release of IPAT Professional 3.0. Based on Cisco® Netsys-Agent (N-Agent™) technology, the IPAT Professional product line expands on Cisco's Netsys Service-Level Manager™ (Cisco NSM), and provides an integrated environment that gives network professionals visibility into their networks in order to assess and troubleshoot connectivity issues. Its routing simulation supports multi-protocol environments, protocol redistribution, and complicated ACL and route filters, enabling users to gain detailed insight into routing coverage and reachability issues.

Recognized by Cisco as the replacement for the Cisco NSM after its end-of-life announcement, IPAT offers features that are mission critical to maintaining a healthy router network:

  • Configuration Validation - check router configurations against over 100 Cisco recommended best-practice rules for network routing. By eliminating common mistakes, IPAT can greatly improve the reliability and robustness of the entire network.
  • Scenario Analysis - create "what if…" scenarios by modifying router parameters and attributes. Determine the impact of such changes on network connectivity and topology.
  • Security Policy Verification - establish connectivity requirements between any pair of end-points within the network, and then verify the compliance of policies against the network configuration. By employing comprehensive IOS access-list checking, IPAT validates the security of sensitive network resources to the appropriate viewers.
  • Failure Analysis - perform extensive failure analysis for links and routers, and analyze the survivability of the network against all pre-defined policies. This can be used to check end-to-end connectivity within the entire network.
  • Asset Management - provide a global view of the financial investment made in the network. When used as an auditing tool, this provides a true picture of the network investment as opposed to a "black box".

New Features in IPAT Professional 3.0:

  • IP multicast support including integrity checks and routing simulation for Protocol Independent Multicast - Sparse Mode (PIM-SM). IPAT calculates the multicast forwarding table, displays the associated topology, and allows users to view the multicast distribution tree, which is the controlling mechanism for multicast packet forwarding.
  • IPsec support including integrity checks to ensure the validity of router configuration for IPsec.
  • Link utilization displays based on calculated routes and user-specified traffic demands. This feature provides insight into the bandwidth utilization of the network, and accentuates IPAT's routing simulation capability in providing a more complete picture for network management.
"IPAT Professional 3.0 extends our support of IOS and reflects the future of network management tools," said Dave Wang, Chief Executive Officer, WANDL, Inc. "We have been working closely with both Cisco and our customers to expand the functionality of IPAT, and we will continue to innovate to meet the needs of our customers."

System Requirements

The IPAT 3.0 server requires a Sun workstation running Solaris 8 with a recommended configuration of a 450 MHz CPU, 512 MB of RAM, and 6 GB of disk space. The IPAT 3.0 client requires a PC or Unix workstation with a minimum of 256 MB RAM.
