WANDL Launches IPAT Essential

Bound Brook, NJ - May 31, 2001 - WANDL, Inc., the maker of the industry-renowned NPATTM (Network Planning and Analysis Tools) software suite, today launched a new product named IPAT EssentialTM as the newest member to its family of advanced network capacity planning, design, optimization, and management software solutions. Based on Cisco Netsys-Agent (N-Agent) technology from Cisco Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO), IPAT product family is the next-generation integrated configuration, management, and reporting solution for IP-based networks.

IPAT Essential expands on Cisco's Netsys Baseliner software and offers numerous functionalities that are beneficial and important to network professionals. With IPAT Essential's easy-to-use JavaTM-based graphical interface, network managers can view, assess, and troubleshoot connectivity issues, including network availability, security, and reliability. This advanced application collects actual network configuration data and verifies the availability of network services delivered on an IP infrastructure. Its network assessment reports and topology features allow end-users to quickly pinpoint and repair network operational problems, reducing the time spent on diagnosing network connectivity crises. The major features of IPAT Essential include:

  • Network diagnostic reports providing integrity checks, syntax check, configuration change history, device inventory, and router summary.
  • Graphical topology views based on campus, virtual ring group, Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) areas, BGP, IS-IS, etc. The topology window also displays round-trip paths between user-selected end systems.
  • Visual queries to show devices running combinations of network or routing protocols; pop-up menus accessing configuration information on each LAN, LAN segment, link, router; graphical views of routing tables.
  • Scheduler and automatic network data collection enable users to retrieve router configuration information on a regular, pre-scheduled basis with no user intervention. Network configuration comparisons can also be generated.
  • Web-based reports and topology generated on a regular basis can be viewed by multiple users logging into the web server.
WANDL was chosen by Cisco as the sole vendor who will develop and distribute a product line to replace the Cisco Netsys Service-Level Manager after its end-of-life announcement. Anson Chen, Director and General Manager of Intelligent Network Services Management Business Unit at Cisco, said "We chose WANDL Inc. for their experience in network modeling and analysis and for their history of successfully working with customers in the U.S. and international markets." Dave Wang, President of WANDL, Inc., said "We see this product as a natural extension and fitting complement to the network planning solutions that WANDL has developed in its 15-year history, and we are very excited about this opportunity to continuously build our close working relationship with Cisco."

Through its software suite, WANDL has been instrumental in helping businesses and government organizations worldwide in their quest for network operational efficiency and cost savings. WANDL has established alliances with major router and switch manufacturers, and has supported their technologies by developing accurate models for their hardware. In addition to the Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), Frame Relay, and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), WANDL was among the very first to offer support for Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) data transmission technology. IPAT Essential is poised to benefit from WANDL's experience and leadership in network modeling.
