IP/MPLSView™ Management Packs
Select from any of the following expansion packs
to further enhance your Management and Monitoring capabilities.
|
Configuration Management
The IP/MPLSView Configuration Management module
assists in building up a complete, real-time network view using
router discovery (via IGP database)
and automated network data collection (configuration files, interface and
tunnel* path data, etc.).
It also supports
real-time access to the network devices
and basic diagnostics for troubleshooting.
Collections can be scheduled to run periodically to ensure your network view
is up-to-date.
You need this if:
- You do not have access to complete and up-to-date network data and configuration files.
- You need a simple, automated method of collecting the latest network configurations and data.
|
|
Network Health Audit
A critical component of each network audit, the Multi-Vendor-aware
Network Health Audit module includes
an extensive set of built-in rules that automatically flag potential misconfigurations
or inconsistencies among configuration files.
Schedule periodic network health checks and automated reports.
Customers have reported that WANDL's Network Health Audit results are
more relevant and useful than competitor solutions that generate
numerous pages of irrelevant or non-critical errors.
You need this if:
- You need an organized way of auditing network health.
- Manual misconfigurations are too frequent, costly, and difficult to detect.
|
|
Device Inventory
This power feature enables users to keep track of equipment inventory, usage, and costs.
It provides detailed logical views of the router system, chassis (shelf/slot/card/port),
as well as near real-time interface status and information.
Within IP/MPLSView, the inventory is automatically constructed from multi-vendor
router equipment data, and can be refreshed in real-time.
You need this if:
- You want to manage your equipment resources efficiently.
- You want to keep track of Hardware CapEx.
|
|
Access Network Collection
This module collects switches and physical topology via SNMP, CDP/LLDP.
The output is an updated master list of network assets (switches, hosts, firewalls).
The VLAN (Layer 2) topology is automatically constructed and displayed,
with powerful visualization of the Spanning Tree per VLAN,
coupled with VLAN Inventory and Reports.
You need this if:
- You want to improve your network asset knowledge using an automated approach.
- You want to build up an asset inventory to be used in IP/MPLSView or other
third party software.
|
|
Performance Management (PM)
Monitor overall network health and performance:
- Collect and monitor interface/tunnel traffic and status.
- Collect and monitor latency/loss information.
- Monitor device Temperature, CPU and Memory usage.
- Perform traffic trending analyses.
- Generate extensive performance reports.
You need this if:
- You want your network to run at peak performance.
- You are an SP and customer satisfaction is of utmost importance.
|
|
Threshold Crossing Alerts (TCA)
Threshold rules can be defined for performance measurements
including Interface and Tunnel [MPLS-TE] Traffic/Utilization, Ping/Latency,
SLA statistics, and Device CPU, Memory, and Temperature.
When a threshold is crossed, a Threshold Alarm is generated and
you are alerted via an Event Map, Event Browser, and
optionally via e-mail or other alternatives.
Threshold rules can be simple and general or as sophisticated as:
"Assign Severity MAJOR when ingress utilization on OC12 or OC48 interfaces
only exceeds 75% on three consecutive polling intervals."
You need this if:
- You need quick response times.
- Your network carries critical traffic and you cannot afford any
network disruption.
- You are an SP and need to guarantee customer SLA's.
- You simply need a more organized way to avert potential network problems
and to stay on top of your network's health.
|
|
MIB Browser
The Management Information Base (MIB) Browser is a separate utility that can assist in Performance Management.
Using the MIB Browser, you can load any standard or enterprise MIBs and perform real-time device query
as well as real-time SNMP monitoring and charting of MIB variables.
A number of MIB modules are preloaded into the system.
You need this if:
- You want greater troubleshooting and diagnostics capabilities.
|
|
Fault Management (FM)
The Fault Management module supports a real-time visual display of alarms and faults as well as
real-time traps processing, correlation, reporting and notification.
Integrated diagnostic utilities and IP/MPLSView's unique built-in intelligence help you to quickly
identify the cause of problems.
You need this if:
- You cannot afford system downtime or disruption.
- You want to pinpoint and prevent potential problem spots before they occur.
- You are an SP who needs to guarantee customer SLA's.
|
|
Security Management (SM)
This module allows for advanced user administration within the IP/MPLSView system.
User groups can be created having different access privileges to various software
functions or network devices or VPNs managed by the system.
You need this if:
- You want to limit users to monitoring only the devices in their own region. (Regions are user-defined groups of devices.)
- You want to limit users to viewing information for specific VPNs only.
- You want to assign special privileges to only one or two individuals to run important system tasks (e.g. network data or traffic collection).

The Technologies feature packs are powerful modules.
Note that the Management Packs are based on a feature inheritance model
whereby licensing one of the
Technologies may
extend the capabilities of certain
Power Features.
As an example, if the
Fault Management module is already deployed and the
MPLS Traffic Engineering module is then licensed, the
functionality of the FM module will be automatically enabled to include tunnel-related
event/trap monitoring.
Notation in brackets [ ] is used next to certain feature capabilities to indicate such dependencies.
